One prompt

Finding $45,000 a week in a place nobody was looking.

An agency I work with manages a direct-to-consumer brand spending about $1.75 million on ads. The owner didn’t know where it was leaking.

I asked for seven days of ad data and wrote one prompt.

Three quarters of the active ads were losing money. Forty-five thousand dollars a week was going out to bring thirty-six thousand back. Thirty thousand a week could be recovered by moving spend to ads that were already working and nobody had noticed. There was a 37 percent blind spot in the account.

The agency owner’s reaction was not about the brand. It was: “That is a valuable tool. We could sell that.”

What to know

  • I ask for the raw data, not the dashboard.
  • The diagnosis is the product. It took an afternoon.
  • The brand is unnamed here until its owner says otherwise.
